I look forward to the book to see Stephen Hawking's take on the topic but here's my idea...

Any particle in existence must have laws it follows. For example, a rubber ball isn't rubber ball unless it has weight and density and all other physical characteristic that makes it a rubber ball and these characteristics cause it to follow a certain course of action if energy is applied (being thrown). So what I'm trying to say is to exist at all an object must have laws to govern it. These laws when in contact with the laws of another object will cause reactions. These will, in our universe, cause a pattern, the patterns we see in physics. The physics which are needed to create our universe.
Now if I haven't already befuddled you, I would accept that the universe, in regards to planets and stars may have been created without a God. However I remain firm that life itself could not be created without 'intelligent design'.
With that said, I look forward to Stephen Hawking's book because he must have something worth hearing to say.

Politics

Politics is always filled with debates, verbal wars, and most of all, stupidity. However I decided to take a 'sort 'o sideways view' of politics.
How often did you ever stop to consider that there might be a good reason behind every, seemingly stupid, decision made by the government? Well it appears that the government, and opposition parties, work on the basis of importance. Which is more important, the economy upon which you thrive financially, or the environment upon which future generations will thrive? I'm guessing you have already made your choice but the government has to decide on one that most people will be pleased with, without making a REAL stupid decision.
Its tough on political leaders and our criticism is even more tough. Try running a healthy economy, environment and keep friendliness with other countries at the same time. Its tough so give politicians a break.

Abortion: barbaric practice reintroduced to modern society

I find it difficult to believe that abortion is treated as such tough a philosophical argument. It seems simple that murder is unjustifiable - so why should the murder of innocents be regarded otherwise? The argument supporting abortion is usually that 'it is a matter of women rights' but in REALITY we know that no-one has the right to murder and abortion is murder.
What abortionist need to realize is that we live in a real world where murder should be unjustifiable. Just because some spoiled brat got pregnant doesn't give her the right to kill the baby.
Another argument for abortion is that life begins at birth, not conception, but why do mothers go to the clinic ever so often for??? Is it not to ensure that their baby is alive inside their womb???
Another stupid argument for abortion is that 'if a child doesn't have a welcoming home it is better to never enter the world BUT no-one is allowed to commit suicide. If someone attempts suicide we try our best to stop them so if our lives are not our own to take why should anyone have the right to make that decision for us??? There are many institutions dedicated to taking children that people are unable to keep on their income.
Also it is important to note that many would-be mothers who are in a situation that makes them consider abortion really do not want to have their baby aborted. But in fact are often pressured into this barbaric method of 'disposing' of their babies.
Are we really progressing to a better future for all or is our selfishness costing millions of infants their lives?

The Dragonlance Chronicles

I just finished off a book in the Dragonlance saga called 'The Time of the Twins'. As always with the DragonLance, it was a great read.
I never actually wrote about a book I read for fun so it will be tough not to spoil the story.

The Dragonlance saga is a terrific series of books because of how well the story progresses, weaving a variety of mysteries, surprizes and strange twists into a world of strange, and suberb creatures, some such as Kender, unique to this saga.

From what I have been able to make out of the large number of books belonging to this series, there is four main books centered around the war of the Lance, and smaller(literally) books which fill in small gaps between the main books. Also there is books specific to the character's own life which is not shown in the other books. This huge selection of books allow you to pursue your favourite character through their lives.
The books, written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, is so perfectly woven that it seems like a real world... But my sad attempts at explaining how cool these books are probably won't persuade you to read them so get just one of the books and read it! If you don't get hooked instantly you are just weird!!!!!!

To serve and protect

This is supposed to be the motto of our police force. But when you see "Winnipeg police caught on video beating man" in the news you wonder if this is really what all policemen are doing. Many people seem to believe 'that is what the guy deserves for his crime/s' but who are they to judge? Why should a policeman decide that someone is guilty? Obviously policemen and normal citizens don't have that power to judge anyone! Which is why we have judges, lawyers and juries. If you still do not agree consider this "Innocent until proven guilty". What if the guy WAS innocent??? I guess you might think "well he was running from the police so isn't he guilty?" Well consider all the reasons someone might fear the police, like maybe the police would beat them up! or maybe they have a bad criminal record so they assume that they are a target of the police and sometimes racial suppositions. In a democratic society we should not be subjected to what scientists think(or know) is best for us. WE make OUR own decisions. For example, smoking is PROVEN to increase your risk of cancer and heart disease, yet we are allowed to use it. Why not raw milk? We decide that we want to eat burgers even though it is not a good idea to eat it everyday. It is our choice. Raw milk may be hazardous to our health, but it may also be good.

All of our decisions come with consequences. Whether it be good or bad. We choose. The consequence for our actions may vary from a tummy ache to imprisonment. I think a tummy ache is enough punishment for a raw milk drinker. Thanks to Schmidt we can drink raw milk freely. And just for those who resent raw milk - no-one is forcing you, raw milk drinkers will face the consequence, whether it be good or bad.

Thanks Schmidt, for giving us the right to drink raw milk freely!

Freedom or not

My deepest apologies for not blogging in such a long time... Anyways, I was shocked at some peoples reaction to the accident which happened recently, involving a mother, child and a 83 year-old woman. People suddenly want to take away the licenses of older people! This is a great thing. But like all great things it has a downside. That is what we'll look at. We already know why this is great, so why is it bad??? Well, its simple enough, equality can not ever be truly achieved. Now you are probably thinking that I am being stupid (again) but think about this: helping one race gain equality would NOT stop at 'equal' we tend as humans to hit well above the mark each time. That race/gender will become the most well treated. However this does not mean that equaliy should not be strived for, rather, we should realize where to stop. Also instead of looking at what one race/gender does not recieve look at what they do - then balance both and see whether they are equal or not. So what if women do not get jobs laying bricks? they do get office jobs right??? I certainly do not mean to demean any gender or race - but to see that equal does not always mean the exact same. We are all different - accepting that is just as important as having the same opportunities of anyone else.

DO NOT GET ME WRONG: EQUALITY IS VERY IMPORTANT!

Gender Equality

We have always seen speeches, complaints etc. from the 'female side' of society - women asking for no discrimination in the work place etc. (which is only right, no-one deserves discrimination because of their gender) but what made women move from housewife to workers? Well, the world wars is one reason - forcing women out of their homes into factories. However the greater force behind this was the idea that being a house wife is a bad thing or unrespectable thing - the need to venture out into the world and make their own money. However great this change was it also had very negative effects on society. People forgot how important house wives are - house wives have always been the nurturers of our future generations. Now as the majority of women enter the work place there is no-one left on the 'home front' to take care of the more important aspects of our civilization. I agree that sexism is wrong but I believe that there is a lack of nurturers which needs to be filled - we need to portray house wives as they truly are - the protectors of our future generations.

The 'end'?

Taking a break from my assignment today - I decided to once again to explore the 2012craze. Many people I know have been saying how 'freaky' the movie 2012 was. I have not seen the movie yet but it seems to be a very good film from whatI've heard. One person even said that it is a documentary - and seemed rather sure about that. However I think that if the director of this movie actually believed, this he would not be making a movie, he'd be digging a hole in his backyard in which he could hide. I think some people are getting worked up about nothing and will see that in 2012. I look foward to 2012 when the hippies will be planning out their plans for staying alive or being super kind when they decided they would simply die.

Here goes nothing! or something?

Well I am currently working on a really neat project for my history class and I thought it would be cool to document my work here on my blog. The assignment is to build a model of a forgotten wonder of ancient civilizations and create a write-up of why I think it is a wonder + other facts about it. I chose the Colosseum - bad idea!!! I don't think I can build a model of the Colosseum..... Anyways here is the research that I've done so far:

It had four storeys - each with a different arch design.

Marble and wooden seats accommodated up to 50,000 spectators.

The arena was 84m by 54m.

Under the arena animals for the games were kept under the arena.

The arena was sometimes flooded for mock naval battles.

It was named because of the colossal statue which it was erected near to.

Construction was started by Vespasian in AD 69 and inagurated by Titus, his son, in AD 80.

The exterior was made of Traver tine and the interior of Tu fa while the seating area was made with monolithic concrete.

Information was taken from the Academic American Encyclopedia volume 5.

Remembrance day or is it?

Today we observed Remembrance day. However, a few idiots, whom I have the misfortune of being acquainted with, celebrated it. Yep, you heard right - they celebrated it, not because they dislike the army or anything of the sort - rather they were simply ignorant. However, as much as that bothers me, I decided to take a look at how we observe this very serious occasion. Firstly, I think it is very silly how Canadian soldiers are at war in Iraq, Afghanistan and whatever countries they are occupying currently. I probably sound like I do not like the army - this is untrue - I hate the fact that Canada has troops in other countries. To this date our brave young men in unfortunate countries have done nothing of benefit to Canada and yet there is 133 (I believe) dead soldiers. This great sacrifice of the countries best for what? Another problem is that these brave men are decorated as heroes when dead not while they live to feel pride in the glory. Then again there are those soldiers who often return from war psychologically damaged do not receive equal glory as their deceased comrades.
Why is our government sending these men away to their death??? I do not see any reason for such a waste of life. The only reason it really got my attention was because of how muddled the author got his facts. I do not intend to look at evolution in this post - just how badly some people understand science. So why is this cartoon so terribly wrong? Well it is simply how the creator of this cartoon portrayed scientific inquiry.
The steps used to form evolution or any other scientific theory is the same - firstly you ask a question, like how was life created? Then you think of a possible answer - like maybe we evolved. Thirdly, you research and dig up fossils etc. To determine how valid your original theory was.
As we can all see whoever made this cartoon has very little information about science and thus misleads people into believing that Evolutionists started off from evidence, instead of the truth that evolution started off as an idea. It is definitely true that religion has a scientifically unorthodox idea of our creation. However that is not my point, I simply believe that such misleading information should be pointed out.

2012!

I had heard a lot of people raving on about how the Mayan calendar ends in 2012 and that that means, for some strange reason, that the world would end in 2012. I had promised myself to research it, but never got around to it until now. Interestingly enough, everyone's wrong! Why do people talk about the whole 'mayan 2012' thing if they never researched it??? Well, it turns out that it is really something more of a cycle, rather than an end. Darwin noticed something of great significance that changed the world's view to creation, he noticed that animals change gradually over time. Hm..... but what exactly did this prove? Well in my view, please remember 'in my view', this proved that we were so uniquely made that our bodies know to adapt to our environment in order to keep us and other species alive. I think, now, that it is silly to not acknowledge all the change occurring around us, however how we explain the reasons for that change and how much it has really affected our world could differ greatly. For example, Darwin believed that this change changed us from amoeba [just saying, I know the terms used are very different] to what we are today, while I believe that it is simply a built in instinct that changes our bodies slightly so we may survive. Evolution is no doubt real, but the extent to which evolution has affected us as beings is and will remain undetermined.

Before the Common Era?

I was thinking about how people use B.C.E now instead of B.C and they say it is because B.C is politically incorrect since not every is a christian so they won't accept "before Christ" and it came to a mind how hypocritical that is!!! That made me think of how amazing life is! It is practically impossible to recreate a robot that is just like a human being because so many qualities which is only found in humans like love, hatred and enthusiam. But just forget about all that for a second and think of the little things that we take for granted like the ability to be able to handle fine crystal and also be able to lift several pounds of weight, the ability to run without worrying that you wilol lose a bolt, the ability to change your expression to suit the mood you are in and a whole lot of other things you can do. Although our bodies are such a marvel we take it for granted every day! Then back to the bigger things, it is possible to program a robot that can portray these emotions but it will never be able to feel those emotions! Well I just think that that was really amazing, that we have such awesome qualities that can not be duplicated. I think our bodies are also proof that evolution is not real too. Click here for my opinions on evolution.

Nuclear weapons - revolution of warfare?

I am a pacifist (in some respects that is) but the idea of infantry, jeeps, tanks and fighter jets are rather fun to think of and are pretty neat for videogames. Everyone at some point in their lives must have imagined themselves fighting for their country or something else like that, but nuclear weapons? I think nuclear weapons are for weaklings who want to be threatening. America has nuclear weapons; used for threatening off pontential super powers, thats precisely why they don't want other countries to develop nuclear weapons, because even nuclear weapons if owned by all countries will become pretty normal and fear of america will decrease. America, a really nice country so I hear, has its dark side, they use their power to create fear in other rivalling countries [precisely why I can't name a possible rival for the U.S.]. So why doesn't anyone do anything about? Because America holds sway over every country! I believe that all countries should have the right to own nuclear weapons secretly or openly and america should just but out of everyone else's business! Phew! that was alot. But my point is that America has too much powerand that other countries should develop nuclear weapons if it strikes their fancy but personally, nuclear weapons are cowardly.

Check out this site!

Human Nature

I think that it is difficult to understand human nature because it is our nature to make ourselves look good or in some cases, bad. As I write this I might be misinterpreting human nature because of my very nature. Well, personally, I think that humans are generally very selfish, for example, we say that we are trying to save the environment yet we won't stop using our cars because we feel comfortable using them and most of the people who do use their cars less it is to save money. Now you are probably saying that you aren't selfish but think of how you live - everything you do is somehow centered around yourself. If you volunteer at a shelter or something like that you are probably doing it for community hours or to make yourself look good. I won't deny the fact that some people are actually very unselfish, because I know many people who can be very generous, but even those wonderful people have a streak of selfishness. Well we aren't all bad - we love people and people love us back - in this way humans can be great beings. People devote their lives bringing up their kids out of pure love! (aren't humans great?) Then again we are rather mean to others at times too and can jump to conclusions about people. Why can't we love people who we aren't immediately related to? and why do we tend to anger easily at conclusions that aren't proven? Human nature leaves a lot to be desired. We also tend to think that we are better than our ancestors, like the gladiators for example, we think that that their barbaric practices of fighting for entertainment was...... well, barbaric, but the violence portrayed on TV and video games are just as bad! (why do we have to be so silly?) So think of your motive and think of how our ancestors might have done the same things whenever you do the simplest of thing - you will surprise yourself!

Think before you talk

I have to admit that I have often said things that I really hadn't taken the time to form a conclusion about or simply hadn't researched enough about it on both side's point of view. Most people do just this and then end up sticking with an opinion that they only support half-heartedly or they just accepted what someone told them and never thought about it until someone opposed them. I found that this has led to the decline of our thinking skills. Someone I was talking to one day said that their teacher said that evolution was fact and they believed that because their teacher said it, I don't think the teacher said that just that the student took these very important things lightly and really didn't care to think of it any further. Well, I think that we might just be on the verge to need to introduce a new topic to the school's curriculum which will teach of the importance of thinking before making decisions. Anyway, I find that it is important that we all start to think of ideas like our creation and when does life begin (don't forget; which came first, the chicken or the egg?). They may seem unimportant at first but these very little things will help us to to make wise decisions later, for example, is abortion OK? having a firm decision on when life begins makes this easier to understand so don't neglect the philosophical view of our world.

The human life cycle

It seems pitiable how we humans spend our short lives. We work throughout our childhood so we can get a job and work even more when we are older, then finally at the end we get a chance to rest a bit before dying, and our children continue the cycle. Scary, huh? Well it isn't all bad, we work approximately 8 hours a day so we do have time for pleasure in between. The little time we actually enjoy ourselves is what only humans can enjoy anyway - animals don't even get any real fun in their lives. The ability to enjoy ourselves is such a great thing and yet we spend so little time practising it. What is happening to the human race? I guess in the next thousand years we will become 'mindless work zombies' who don't know what fun or excitement is. I hope a few of us will be spared the up-coming 'work-age'. Are you a workaholic? Well, yes you probably think you aren't and besides we need to work. But to work so we can work so we can work [no it isn't a typo] is just ridiculous.

War.

The thing that is interesting about humans is that we never seem to learn from our past. After the first world war germany declared an armistice yet they were treated like they lost and thus they were decided to be the ones at wrong - later they used the anger from the humiliating treatment they recieved for 'losing' to ravage europe during the second world war. Bertrand Russell was one of the few who saw the real face of war.

"War does not determine who is right - only who is left" - Bertrand Russell

Despite the fact that war is one of the most foolish thing countries engage in the U.S. and Canada still participate in it in places like Afganistan and Iraq. Pretty silly. They defend war by saying that it is to protect the rights of people in those countries, however the real reason countries have armies is to protect themselves. Well getting back to my original point - knowing America will eventually win against the terrorists think of the silent supporters of terrorist organizations who will continue to plot against the U.S. and Canada.

Why does our country support war in Iraq? Well the families of dead soldiers who fought bravely to support their countries even though their countries were at wrong [ Talk of dedication to their countries! these soldiers are truly great men and women] will probably support the troops but don't support our goverement in their insane rampage in countries that are of little interest to our country.

"Never think that war, no matter how necessary nor how how justified, is not a crime" Ernest Hemmingway.

Our Creation

We have debated among ourselves for years about where we from however there is one person who has always intrigued me in his approach to creation, Albert Einstein. Einstein was a odd man when it all came down to understanding our creation, he, I believe, has one of the most accurate idea about how we were created.

"The human mind is not capable of grasping the Universe. We are like a little child entering a huge library. The walls are covered to the ceilings with books in many different tongues. The child knows that someone must have written these books. It does not know who or how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. But the child notes a definite plan in the arrangement of the books—-a mysterious order which it does not comprehend, but only dimly suspects." - Albert Einstein

This quote shows us the very nature of humans and also shows how evolution isn't such an great theory. Interestingly enough Albert Einstein DID NOT believe in a personal creator and yet he arrived at the conclusion that there must be some divine force that created our world. I think evolutionist aren't looking at the big picture or rather they are just avoiding the obvious because when it all comes down to it where in the world did our universe even come from? Rather than thinking about where WE came from lets look at where our UNIVERSE came from. A lot to take in at once? Why don't evolutionist look at the big picture? Well they would lose their jobs or maybe they are just silly, whatever the reason we should stop fooling ourselves - take a look around you - we are more than an accident - we were specially made at the hands of a supremely divine being. Instead of getting angry at me why don't you just stop for a second and considered what Albert Einstein and I said.

Where is literature?

In my english classes I am beginning to see that there are too many rules placed on writing which makes it more boring than interesting. Some of the rules include stuff like how to structure your paragraphs and so on and the structure is too rigid to enjoy. I think of writing as an art and in art rules do not apply, however that does not mean that good grammer and such must not be used but rather leave the structure open so that students can create their own 'art' of writing. When writing is bound by rules it becomes nothing more than a structure which has been refurbished instead of the brand new structure it should be. Writing should never be based on the 'correct' way because there is no truly correct way to write. Writing can always be improved so to create a structure on which it must follow is the same as to stifle the growth of true literature. Have we lost the real 'open-ness' that literature offers or did we just perfect the art of writing?

Opinions

There is a lot of debate surrounding many different opinions, for example, evolution, whether abortion is right or wrong and many more. I think that everyone should get their opinion so evolutionists don't bother me in the least but to be forcing an unproven theory on teenagers is just ridiculous. If we all love free speech so much why doesn't schools back off on such sensitive issues. Even the great scientists have argued for ages without proving a thing so why even bring up such a nonfactual theory into the education system? I think that the Ministry of Education should re-consider this terrible error in our so-called "multicultural-society". An atheist will be offended by religion being used in the education of their children so why should a religious person feel any different when evolution is being taught in schools? We should just completely avoid this topic in schools [I think High school students are smart enough to make their own decisions, don't you?].

The environment: can we save it?

If you read my profile you would see that I'm not an environmentalist. I believe that it is far too obvious that control over our impact on the environment has slipped beyond our control a very long time ago. There is nothing we can do to reverse the negative effect we have left on our environment. I don't think that it is wrong to try and slow down the destruction of earth - we live here! But the money wasted on research for ways to stop global warming might as well be given to loonies who research time machines! If we really wanted to do something about our rapidly degrading environment then we would have put our cars in a junkyard and stop drilling for fossil fuels! Take a look at this picture and ask yourself how we can say that we are trying to save the environment? I think that humans should be ashamed that they are destroying the environment and then claim to be trying to solve th problem. Some people believe that if all humans die out the environment will fix itself - hmmm that may just work! - but I don't think anyone is willing to die so that an ape can live. As bleak as this future looks we can always turn to god who will destroy this earth and take all his followers to a paradise he prepared. So dedicate your life to god and then you have a bright future to look forward to instead of the bleak future that men have to offer.

Lipovox: Miracle Pill???

This recently caught my attention: Lipovox!
The thing that I don't get is why people are still silly enough to buy these miracle products. They pay outrageous prices for super pills that can cause them very serious allergic reactions! Maybe its the shiny packaging that attracts them [Ooooh shiny!]. However I think it may be OK to ask your doctor about it - if he recommends it then that is something different. Still, I am worried about this product because it hasn't been studied!!! There are better methods for keeping fit that doesn't include taking drugs. Like a balanced diet regular exercise and less junk food.
It doesn't make sense to take a diet pill with a bottle of soda and a burger [EXPOSITION!] this doesn't mean taking it at the same time - because its the same if you take the pill in the morning and the soda and burger in the afternoon.
I don't think we were meant to live on pills, or were we?
I'm beginning to think that kids are smarter than adults when it come to how much we like pills - but I'm not trying to say that it is wrong to use pills but think about how you use them and why and consider whether it is necessary or if you are just being silly. It may be a good idea to use pills like these along with a healthy lifestyle but don't be silly. These pills do work but living a healthy lifestyle is a much better idea.

Seal Hunt

This is PETAs [People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals] logo which they are using to gain attention about the seal hunt in Canada - really clever I must say. However, I find that putting a 'bad-name' on Canada to stop the seal hunt - as clever as it is - really doesn't help in attracting tourists. But it is a good cause so..... Well the truth is, I am not sure who to side with but I really feel sad about seals being clubbed unconscious then skinned. We at least ought to ask the seal's permission before we club and skin it. What is so nice about wearing someone else's skin anyway? Then again I think that PETA could have found a more Canada friendly logo. I believe that the Internet should be regulated by the FCC. Yes, I know I sound like I hate free speech but I really don't. I am having free speech right now! However, that is not my point, as you know, the Internet is as readily available as television and television is regulated but the Internet isn't. Some things were not meant to be seen by the public but is available on the Internet for anyone to see. I think that the government is stupid not to see the amount of libel and adult content that anyone can access on the Internet. So exactly why doesn't anyone speak out about this? I find that this is a argument, if looked at the right way [morally] is rather one sided. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there is a lot of bad stuff out on the Internet which anyone can access. Don't get me wrong, I truly believe in freedom of speech but this has gone too far. If the FCC is given the right to regulate the Internet it will not only make the world a safer place but create jobs as well. I personally think the Internet should be regulated.

Haida, A must see Historical Site

Well, I finally got around to making a blog where I can post my personal life and narrow-minded opinions. Well anyway, today I am writing, er... typing about my very recent trip to the HMCS Haida. I love the way Canada preserved its history. The Haida could possibly pass for a modern day Warship. The Haida is an important historic site because it is the only surviving Tribal-class destroyer out of twenty seven that were constructed between 1937-1945. The HMCS Haida also sunk more enemy ships than any other Canadian Warship [that is impressive]. I would advise you to see the Haida - it is something worth the time to see. I must say that the torpedo on display was quite something to see. If you're the kind of photo-fanatic person you should check it out [I'm not a good photographer but I can tell]. It is also good to get to know more about Canadian history, especially if you are Canadian. If you're interested in the HMCS Haida you should follow this link.
